The dog...

I love George MacDonald....
"Now the shepherd, though he is wise, is not quite clever enough for all that is wanted of him up in those strange, terrible hills; and he needs another to help him. Now, who do you think helps the shepherd? Ah! you know, Maggy; but you mustn't tell. I will tell. It is a curious creature with four legs—the shepherd has only two, you know;--and he is covered all over with three different colors mixed—black, and brown, and white; and he has a long nose and a longer tongue, which he knows how to hold. This tongue is a great comfort to him sometimes to hang out of his mouth as far as ever it will hang. And he has a still longer tail, which is a greater comfort to him yet. I don’t know what ever he would do without his tail; for, when his master speaks kindly to him, he is so full of delight, that I think he would die if he hadn't his tail to wag. He lets his gladness off be wagging his tail, so that it shan't burst his dear, honest, good dog-heart. Ah! there, I've told you. He’s a dog, you see; and the very wisest and cleverest of all dogs. He could be taught anything. Only, he is such a gentlemen, though dressed very plainly, as a great many gentlemen are, that it would be a shame to teach him some of the things they teach common-place rich dogs."

The sermon that we heard today was taken from Jeremiah 18 and the pastor was showing us how like the Israelite's we are in America today! Isn't it great that we who believe is Christ's shed blood are only Pilgrims here and that we were not made for this world?! All the suffering that will come upon us is there for strengthening us and making us fit for the life to come.
And, yes! God will punish America for the way it has gone. We need more than ever to study God's word so that our faith does not falter when trials come! America needs a revival!

Jeremiah 18:1-12
The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel! The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it.
“Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.”’”
And they said, “That is hopeless! So we will walk according to our own plans, and we will every one obey the dictates of his evil heart.”

Sorry the background is white. It seems to do that whenever I copy and paste things on here... I didn't feel like typing out that section of scripture and I don't know how to fix it;)
I hope you have had a wonderful day! Did you go to church and were you encouraged? I was!

The mountains!

Yesterday we went to the mountains after church. It was a beautiful day to be out. Not to hot, not to cold!
It was very windy up at the top, though, but it felt very good!
All the girls.
The views up there are so nice!
Yeah... It was windy. : )

Here is the path that we came up.
Lydia had so much fun!

Can you see something wrong with this picture?
I bet the person up there didn't know they had an audience!
Then we went to a small but beautiful waterfall...
Me in a cool window...
And here is a close up of the mountain we climbed.
Isn't it neat?
The fall colors were gorgeous!
How are the colors where you live?

Chimney Sweep!

Yesterday Dad cleaned out the chimney like he does about ever other year. I always love it because then I can get on the roof and take pictures:)

Lydia loves climbing all the way up,
but she hasn't gotten on the roof, yet.

The view...

Looking down the ladder...

A little spider on the ladder...

Cleaning out the gutters.

The dancing chimney sweep!

From one corner of the roof.

The chimney sweep.
On the 29th was Mom's Birthday...yeah, I'm a little behind! But happy Birthday Mom!
Carrot cake!
Made by me!
The cake turned out tasting great, but it was really crumbly.
And I thought this picture was cool because it is an azalea in the fall!
Well got to get ready for church!
